It's been a while!

I haven't blogged for a while but consistent none the less for the few and far between posts I make.
I have put Wednesday's aside for my creative days where whim and fancy take over from the usual daily chores.

So today I decided I would take a stroll through my boxes of scraps and little bits that get discarded from projects and creations.

Here is what I have been playing with today (not completed yet) and some photos from the past couple of months..

Some Childrens Clothing from Ali Bird

A few designs from Ali Bird currently in stock. The Vintage Style Deer print is a picture from my hand drawn collection, there is a bunny also, but I will save that one for Easter!. My favourite is the second from the bottom - the oriental style fabric has beautiful rich colours and is  gorgeous.
P.S If I don't have these listed on the website, feel free to contact me as some of these are one of a kind!

Just a taste of some new prints...

I felt really good this week finally being able to print some of my designs. I complete all of the printing by hand which I believe adds a sense of satisfaction to each project. The prints haven't been totally finished yet...you will have to wait for that...

Little Houses

Previously I have done a series of pictures
called "Little Houses".
I decided to utilise this concept and
create some little hanging houses.
Made with felt, beads,embroidery and
hand stitching these were a breath of
fresh air for me and look lovely hung
on doors, windows or any special
spot in a child's bedroom.

Green Owl

This is a handprinted design by Ali on an organic cotton t-shirt. A very cool, unisex design, the owl has "music note" appliqued fabric eyes. We all have the music within......

Red !

I have been into red lately and this is one of my outfits as a result of that obsession!
The top is a hand screenprint design titled "Harajuka Girl"and the skirt is a combination of cotton fabrics. I have sewn some of the seams the wrong way out to add some interest and it's finished off with cotton broderie anglaise edging.
All finished off with an obi style belt.

Too cool for school!

Screenprinting

I love screenprinting! Actually I love anything that changes the shape, texture and look of the surface I'm working with. I have screenprinted these using a hand cut stencil which adds a touch of personality to each piece.

These are some I have done recently, and I believe each deserves a name :-
"Princess Lili", "Bunny Blue Eye", and
the "Oriental Fish" all printed up to a child's size 12 and adults upon request.

It's a Wrap!!

Jill and I have been busy creating these little numbers. They are a combination of various fabrics with a black jersey turnover band. The front section of the skirt overlaps creating a wrap effect....
We keep getting asked if they come in adult sizes....Sure do and proving to be very popular.....

More summer linen

Another moment of inspiration with summer linen. I have created the seams back to front and overstitched for effect. Tie sleeves and finished of with navy gingham binding has created a timeless look.

Lovely Summer Linen

Ali Bird

I loved creating this lovely summer dress. Made with a lightweight summer linen and finished with reused doilies for the sleeves. I have finished it of with a doilie flower badge. The centre button was cut from an old jacket...My gorgeous daughter Lili is the stunning model for this photo.... I will be making a dress for myself in the near future.
