Something Red

Being involved with an Art Collective provides lots of opportunities to pursue a creative side in lieu of commercial incentive.
POD Collective is the name of our group and our latest "challenge" was to produce a piece of work with the theme "something red".

I created a 3 colour lino block print from a sketch I had done. I have framed it with a simple black frame and quite happy with the result. I also experimented printing with the block onto a grey felt bag.

Print and Stitch

These are some t-shirt designs that I printed onto natural cotton calico. The idea was to keep printing my designs over the top and end up with a montage of all my prints...however, I got the fabric out and decided to machine stitch scene's over the top with black cotton. I really like the finished product and they will be incorporated into throw pillows, tote bags or maybe framed. I will put the finished products on at a later date.

Luxe Silk

I have been hand printing on raw silk and teaming the
prints up with an antique style linen,
doillies and finally adding some luxe touches.
The final product are some very "Parisian"
bunting flag sets, matching throw pillows and
cute little birdies on a string and in a "bower".

Little Houses

Previously I have done a series of pictures
called "Little Houses".
I decided to utilise this concept and
create some little hanging houses.
Made with felt, beads,embroidery and
hand stitching these were a breath of
fresh air for me and look lovely hung
on doors, windows or any special
spot in a child's bedroom.

Green Owl

This is a handprinted design by Ali on an organic cotton t-shirt. A very cool, unisex design, the owl has "music note" appliqued fabric eyes. We all have the music within......

Some more Owls!

I have been busy making some more little feathered friends. I decided on a red, black, white and pink colour theme. I also thought little ribbons would look nice with the wooden beads and represent leaves nicely.

Red !

I have been into red lately and this is one of my outfits as a result of that obsession!
The top is a hand screenprint design titled "Harajuka Girl"and the skirt is a combination of cotton fabrics. I have sewn some of the seams the wrong way out to add some interest and it's finished off with cotton broderie anglaise edging.
All finished off with an obi style belt.

Too cool for school!

Upcycled!

I made these items out of used leather and suede belts.
To add a little colour and interest, I have included some wooden beads and a "spur star"which was part of a big bundle kindly given to me by the saddlery shop.
I surprised myself at the end product. Truly original and one of a kind !
I have kept a necklace similar for myself and these
have gone to the website.
